If you are planning an improvement to your home, you will quite rightly be wary of who you invite to come along and knock down parts of your treasured property.
With programmes abound about cowboy builders from hell, you will be absolutely filled with horror stories and wondering how on earth you will choose the right person for your project.
Which is why you need to take time to look through our website, see the types of work we have done and our on-going projects, read some testimonials and see how long we have been around!
All of which may go some way to calming your fears and worries. We can arrange for you to talk to past clients.
We can never say that we do not make mistakes - of course we do - your project is a living, moving, changing one. Mistakes can be made, its how we approach putting any mistakes right and accepting responsibility right through until you're happy with your project that makes us different and dependable.
Thank you for considering us for your project.
Founded in 1972 as, J &N Contractors, the company has shown steady growth to become one of the market leaders within the industry.
Back in 1972 "J&N's" was a simple small partnership formed by two brothers, Harry and Orry, who since being demobbed from the Navy and Army had been employed by the various building and painting firms who were gradually restoring London's East End to it's former glory.
They decided to stop working for others and so calling themselves 'J&N Painting Contractors' (the initials of their wives names) began trading for themselves.
The ethos they worked to was one of honesty, earning them an enviable reputation that customers, surveyors, and architects admired, gaining them repeat business and many recommendations.
This ethos is at the heart of JNC Contractors Ltd still today and is something that we are immensely proud of.
When today's Managing Director took the reins, he brought on board an eagerness to expand what he knew could be a market leading company. However, Steve Shearing Jnr has recently decided that a name change was appropriate in keeping with modern times and so JNC Contractors Ltd continues to draw on the ethos of it's predecessors.
Still small enough to ensure that their customers are the most important consideration but big enough to cope with larger and more multi-skilled contracts in each passing year.
Approved contractors for many London Boroughs, browse our projects page to see a selection of our works and some of our various clients. You will see that you are in very safe hands when you employ the JNC Contractors Ltd team.

Can I expect to get a personal service?
Yes - We have built our reputation and pride ourselves on providing such a service. We will always be available to answer any questions or provide best of service.
How can we be sure that JNC will attend, commence work and complete on time?
We accept that many builders may not perform as expected or to time. Most builders are active on site and all it takes is an unexpected problem such as tree roots found during excavation or a surveyor being late, to delay the builder or worse still, for him not to turn up at all. A good builder will contact you, or at least get the office to contact you to re-schedule. If they don't do that - don't chase them - if they can't be reliable at this stage what chance do you have when works get started?
If our estimator cannot make his appointment he or the office will always contact you to re-schedule.
How can I be sure the job will be carried out to a good standard?
Ask to see examples of other works that have been carried out - we have no problem (as long as other clients do not mind) giving examples of works, take a drive past the various examples given and if the past client has agreed, give them a call and talk to them.
Problems do arise on any job - It's how these problems are dealt with that counts. Making sure the client was happy with the finished product at all times. Also, if its building works require local authority approval, the building inspector will be checking at various stages too.
Also, on this web site you will see examples of our work - don't be afraid to ask to see proof that we know what we are doing!
We are always looking for qualified and experienced tradesmen who work to a high standard and like working as part of a team.
If that is you, then please contact us.
People are what make our business and us what we are today.
Our team is our most important commodity and without them we could not offer the services that we do.
It is important to us that they are safe at work and happy with the team around them. Only when we all work as a team can we achieve our best results.
The office staff offer as much support to the guys on site as possible to help them work efficiently and happy.
You would be surprised how much easier a parking permit can make their day!
Good communication between site and office staff means our clients can be well informed at all times.
Our clients keep us busy! We like to think that our customer service is one of the best you will find. When problems arise we like to think our honest approach and good communication helps us to find easy solutions.
Our aim is that every person, client or employee is treated equally with care and respect.
We feel a strong responsibility to keep our carbon foot print to a minimum.
We encourage our boys to meet for work and take one van rather than three.
Materials are ordered responsibly and returned when not used, not disregarded.
We also source our suppliers carefully, taking into consideration the area they cover for delivery.
Waste disposal is carried out by our certified clearance companies to ensure that debris ends up where it should be and not dumped.
Noise pollution on site is kept to a minimum. The boys are also required to remove their lunch rubbish, drinks cartons etc.
The office ensure our excess paper is recycled and that as much recycled paper and goods are used as possible.
We can thank Donna for this - who even collects the boys old T-shirts and jumpers and makes sure they are recycled too!
Health & Safety
It is very important to us that we provide a safe working environment for our staff, the building inspectors and surveyors visiting site and of course, our clients and their neighbours.
Our boys all carry first aid kits and they are always provided with the details of the nearest A&E department, the relevany safety wear is supplied to the boys for each job.
Our excellent health & safety record speaks for itself. Having been looked after by Donna for almost 20 years, there's not much she doesn't know!
She is always happy to provide more information in this area.

"JNC Contractors started work on a second floor wet room extension three months before our second baby was due.
The project was fairly complex due to the number of bespoke items which needed to be made, however, JNC managed the process and the co-ordination of workmen and suppliers with incredible organisation, dedication and a much needed sense of humour. The JNC workmen were always very polite and ensured minimal mess and disruption each day.The build was finished within the agreed timescale, to a high standard and with minimal hassle. Any problems which did arise over the course of the build were dealt with promptly and professionally. The support of Kay and Donna in the office certainly stopped me going mad when heavily pregnant!"
"Although it took slightly longer than expected the end result was great and was definitely worth the wait. We were kept well informed and were involved in any changes that had to be made. My Daughter is very happy here and I would work with JNC again. Thanks very much."
